Union Pacific’s 2Q Earnings Rise 53%

Union Pacific Corp. said Thursday its second-quarter net income rose 53% to $711 million, or $1.40 a share.

Revenue rose 27% to $4.18 billion, the railroad said in a statement.

The largest North American rail carrier carried 24% more intermodal shipments and boosted that revenue by 35% to $827 million.

Domestic intermodal produced 51% of shipments and 45% of revenue, UP said.
